World's first! 630℃ national power demonstration project with secondary reheating lands in Shandong Yuncheng

The world record for the highest steam temperature in a coal-fired power plant's secondary reheating is about to be broken.

On August 31, news came from the launch ceremony of the world's first 630℃ national power demonstration project that the main project of the Datang Yuncheng 630℃ ultra-supercritical secondary reheating national power demonstration project was fully launched. The project installs two 1 million kW ultra-supercritical secondary reheating coal-fired power generating units, representing China's "highest pressure, highest temperature, highest efficiency, and lowest coal consumption" single-shaft million-kW thermal power unit.

The Datang Yuncheng National Power Demonstration Project is located in Yuncheng County, Heze City, Shandong Province. As the only million-kW coal-fired power demonstration project approved by the state during the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period and a major project for the transformation of new and old kinetic energy in Shandong Province, it will further consolidate China's leading position in the world in the field of coal-fired power technology. It is an innovative practice for China to make full use of its basic national conditions of coal as the main energy source, fully implement the national "dual carbon" strategy, and build clean and efficient advanced coal-fired power generation.

The Datang Yuncheng project aggregates high-quality resources from the entire industrial chain of China's thermal power equipment, carries out scientific and technological research and innovation, uses reheating steam temperature of 630℃ and power generation thermal efficiency exceeding 50% as a demonstration point, the unit design main steam pressure is 35.5 MPa, and the coal consumption for power generation is 256.28 g/kWh. It adopts 10 major innovative technologies, especially the first application of the domestically independently developed new generation martensitic heat-resistant steel G115® new material in power equipment, filling the gap in the national research and development of high-temperature materials, which is of great significance to accelerating the independent development process of equipment, and will promote the upgrading of China's thermal power equipment design, manufacturing, new materials, and new technologies.

The project will use technological innovation as its driving force, promote the deep integration of "production, education, and research", and comprehensively build an enterprise with "scenario-based experience, intelligent production, integrated operation, intelligent control, and integrated development." Lin Yue, the chief commander of the Datang Yuncheng project construction, said, "The Yuncheng project will also achieve all-round "demonstration" in terms of green development, safety and reliability, economic efficiency, digital intelligence, and social sharing, to contribute to further accelerating China's construction of a new power system."

It is understood that the total investment of the project is 9.3 billion yuan. After commissioning, the annual power generation can reach 10 billion kWh. Compared with conventional coal-fired power plants, it can save 350,000 tons of standard coal annually, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 945,000 tons, generate 500 million yuan in local taxes, and create more than 2,000 jobs, greatly promoting the coordinated economic and social development of the local area.
